Here we're going to talk about the bedroom area and how the size of the bed will affect the rug size.
There's two main reasons for this, being look and comfort!
Look - The "illusion" tip below applies greatly to this space, so pay close attention. In a bedroom, the central focus of the room is normally the bed and for that reason you have a lot of power and control over this central focus. The size of the rug will be an eye catching point that can't be ignored easily and a bed that appears small compared with the size of the rug will create the illusion of space for you.
Comfort - It's a good idea in all of these setups to have a generous rug length at the foot of the bed. It looks great, but also feels great to be able to get out of bed and then walk around a bit without moving off of the rug!
Bedroom Size Arrangement -
The bedroom is a place of comfort, relaxation, and your sanctuary.
Most people will opt for more calming design in the bedroom. Maybe a single neutral colour, floral, or even simple geometrics. You probably want to leave the flashy stuff for the lounge room! That being said, the bedroom isn't exempt from the general rules of rug spacing and positioning so let's have a look at a few examples of the best ways to space your rug in the bedroom.
Twin beds are small, so make sure to take into account the size and positioning of the beds in relation to where you want to place your rug. You probably have a set position for the twin beds already, and that's great. To cover the area of both the beds and leave enough spacing on the edges of the beds, the foot, and between the beds - we'll almost always be recommending 330 x 240 or 400 x 300.
The thing about twin beds is that having them stand alone in a room can create a disjointed feeling. A rug perfectly solves this problem! If you prefer different designed bed sheets per bed, you're definitely going to want to go with a neutral colour and design.
