Kilim rugs are a tapestry style textile woven in Iran, Pakistan and the Balkans. Decorative woven saddlebags, storage sacks, tent hangings, animal trappings and floor coverings have traditionally enhanced every aspect of tribal life, and are genuine expressions of tribal culture. Today a Kilim rug remains light and versatile, ready for a range of decor options such as wall hangings, cushion covers, ottomans and sofa covers. A Kilim rug can feature both soft and bold colours with geometrical patterns and reflects the traditions of its region.

Construction:

Making a kilim is a highly regarded folk art and they are handmade with natural dye and wool. The key difference between a Kilim and other rugs is that they are a flatweave, and do not have a pile. They generally softer and thinner when compared to other rugs from this region, and some are also reversible. Quality of a Kilim can vary from inexpensive to museum quality pieces.

Features:

  • Material: Wool
  • Style: Traditional
  • Pile Height: 5-10mm Approx
  • Origin: Iran
  • Construction: Handmade/Knotted

IMPORTANT TIP: We recommend that an anti-slip pad such as Supa Rug Grip is used underneath rugs to prevent slippage between the rug and the surface it is placed on.

Please note:Allow for a slight variation of colours depending on monitor settings.

This item cannot be delivered to a PO Box, only to a street address.

SUPA GRIP is a reversible rug pad that may be used over Carpet floors. It provides a firm base to your rug and keeps it from slipping. Great for high traffic areas and under heavy furniture. SUPA GRIP can be cut with scissors to any size or shape for unlimited uses around the home, car or boat.

If you spill food or liquid on the rug, clean it immediately. This will help in preventing the stain from setting in. Remember, once the stain sets in, it becomes more difficult to remove and professional cleaning may be required. Never rub a spill, as it forces the spill deeper into the rug. Always, blot with a clean white cloth. Removing as much moisture from the spill as possible by blotting with a clean, absorbent cloth or paper towel as a first measure.

If the stain is still visible after blotting as above, use lukewarm water containing a mild wool cleaning liquid to remove any leftover stains. If you’re unsure of the cleaning agent, test it on an area which may not be noticed, or is unseen. Please be aware; some carpet cleaning agents have been known to be too harsh on rugs and may leave a stain or change the texture of the fibre once dried.
